The Experimental Choir of the Municipality in Rhodes aims in connecting music with life itself, the composers with both the audience and ourselves. For us it is not some kind of competition but an experience we would like to share with others. We approach music with respect and our objective is to achieve performances that are both genuine expressions of emotions and are technically complete and innovative.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT OUR PEDAGOGICAL PRINCIPLES

It has been found that singing, and particularly choir singing, contributes toward the development of important skills that go far beyond the mere contact with music and enhance the overall development of our personality. When a child sings with other children, it co-ordinates with them and reaches sym-phony. Thus singing with others cultivates both sociability and the experience that this social coordination - symphony is a result of each member's personal contribution.

Choir singing does not level off individual differences as each member participates by contributing to the group performance with their own distinct voice. While singing, however, the voices are coordinated and at the same time each of them keeps their own timbre.

The Children's Choir of the Municipality in Rhodes is a small community with the objective that each child learns - through the group music activities - to work with others. Although we don't neglect the music training of children, among the main objectives of our approach are the promotion of values and principles about people and life itself, in line with the humanistic education principles.
